Mapping Community Screenings in Postmillennial Hong Kong” is a record of a variety of community screening events that had taken place in Hong Kong during the 2000s and the 2010s. In this collection, community screenings are understood as the exhibition of moving images outside the commercial cinema circuits. Characterizing these screening events are the flexible use of urban space, the emphasis on community bonding, interactions between filmmakers and the public, and the cultivation of social awareness.

The collection contains data sourced from the public domain about the films being screened, the venues, and the organizers. While the collection does not aim to be exhaustive, it captures the activities of major screening organizers and representative film events. The digital cartography is expected to revisualize the community network and map out the operation of different spectatorships, cultural practices, and film distribution means in postmillennial Hong Kong.

The digital collection is still in progress for processing and inclusion. At the moment, the collection does not include any film festival events.
